Meta and UAE Cyber Security Council Launch Wearables Studio UAE for AI-Powered Innovation
The UAE is taking another step into the future of artificial intelligence with the launch of Wearables Studio UAE, a new programme designed to help local developers, students, entrepreneurs and startups create AI-powered experiences for wearable technology.
Launched by Meta in partnership with the UAE Cyber Security Council and programme delivery partner Startupbootcamp, the initiative was unveiled during GISEC Global 2026 in Dubai. It is described as the UAE’s first dedicated innovation, education and talent-development programme focused specifically on AI-powered wearable experiences.
What Is Wearables Studio UAE?
Wearables Studio UAE is designed as a hands-on programme rather than simply a technology showcase.
Participants will have the opportunity to develop skills around wearable technology through technical training, mentorship and practical product development, taking ideas from early concepts towards working AI-powered experiences.
The programme is aimed at innovators across the UAE, including developers, technical students, startups and product teams, creating an entry point for people interested in exploring how AI could work through devices that are increasingly integrated into everyday life.
Applications opened on 17 September and run until 17 October 2026.
From Healthcare to Tourism: Where Wearable AI Could Be Used
One of the more interesting elements of the programme is its focus on solving practical, locally relevant challenges.
Participants will explore wearable AI applications across areas including tourism and cultural heritage, healthcare, education, Arabic AI companions and smart retail.
That could mean exploring how hands-free, voice- or camera-enabled technology might change the way visitors experience cultural destinations, how people interact with retailers or how information and assistance are delivered in everyday environments.
The programme will cover areas such as wearable user experience, AI prototyping, cybersecurity, privacy and product development, combining technical development with conversations around how wearable technology should be designed and used responsibly.
Cybersecurity and Privacy Built Into Wearable Innovation
The involvement of the UAE Cyber Security Council puts privacy and security at the centre of the programme.
Wearable AI presents particular considerations because devices can potentially interact with users throughout their daily lives, making questions around personal information, cameras, voice interaction, cybersecurity and user trustespecially relevant.
The initiative therefore aims to encourage developers to consider privacy and cyber protection during the design process rather than treating security as something to be added later.
The programme also aligns with the UAE’s wider focus on developing domestic AI capabilities and preparing talent for an increasingly AI-driven economy.
$10,000 Prize Pool for the Top Teams
Participants will move through workshops, mentorship and prototyping before putting their ideas to the test through a hackathon-style build sprint.
According to programme information, the top three teams will share a US$10,000 prize pool, with US$5,000 for first place, US$3,000 for second and US$2,000 for third. Selected teams may also have opportunities to showcase their solutions at upcoming technology events.
The initiative ultimately offers UAE-based innovators a chance to experiment with a technology category that is likely to become increasingly prominent as AI moves beyond phones and laptops into devices designed to accompany users throughout their day.
