Visit Qatar Wins GCC Award for Excellence in Workforce Nationalisation
Visit Qatar has received a GCC-level award for Outstanding Companies in Workforce Nationalisation, recognising its efforts to develop Qatari talent and increase opportunities for nationals within the country’s growing tourism sector.
The award was presented to Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, Chief Executive Officer of Visit Qatar, during a ceremony held alongside the 12th meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers of Labour in Manama, Bahrain.
His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, presented the award.
Supporting Qatari Talent in Tourism
The recognition highlights the increasing focus on developing national talent alongside the continued expansion of Qatar’s tourism industry.
Qatar Tourism and Visit Qatar have been investing in attracting, developing and retaining Qatari professionals, with the aim of creating opportunities for nationals to contribute across the tourism sector and wider visitor experience.
Developing local expertise is particularly important as Qatar continues to expand its international tourism profile, requiring talent across areas including destination marketing, events, hospitality, visitor experiences and tourism development.
The latest award recognises Visit Qatar’s approach to building this local workforce while supporting longer-term sector growth.
Part of a Wider Focus on Institutional Development
The GCC recognition follows another recent accolade for the country’s tourism organisation.
Qatar Tourism previously received the Qatar Government Excellence Award, recognising its institutional performance and approach to public-sector governance.
Together, the recognitions highlight a wider strategy that places workforce development and organisational performance alongside Qatar’s ambitions for tourism growth.

Recognising Workforce Nationalisation Across the GCC
The GCC workforce nationalisation awards are held annually and recognise organisations and individuals contributing to national employment initiatives across Gulf countries.
Beyond recognising individual organisations, the programme is intended to encourage the exchange of successful practices and expertise between GCC countries as they work to develop local workforces across different industries.
For Visit Qatar, the latest award places tourism within that wider nationalisation conversation.
As Qatar continues to invest in attracting international visitors and developing new tourism experiences, strengthening the participation of Qatari professionals will remain an important part of building the sector from within.
