Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final Returns to Lusail This December
Qatar is preparing to welcome professional triathletes, amateur competitors and sports fans back to Lusail this December as the Qatar T100 Triathlon World Championship Final returns for its second consecutive year.
Taking place from 10-12 December 2026, the three-day championship will bring the finale of the T100 Triathlon World Tour to Qatar, with the world’s leading professional triathletes converging on Lusail to compete for the season’s world championship titles.
Visit Qatar, in partnership with the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), World Triathlon and Qatar Triathlon Federation, has now revealed further details of the course, while registrations remain open for athletes interested in joining the event.
Swim, Cycle and Run Through Lusail
The 100km course will once again use Lusail’s waterfront and cityscape as its backdrop.
Competitors begin with a 2km swim in the Arabian Gulf, followed by an 80km cycling course through the streets of Lusail.
The final stage is an 18km run through Lusail Plaza and Boulevard, bringing the total race distance to 100km.

New Relay Races Make Their Debut in 2026
One of the biggest additions this year is the introduction of team relay entries.
For 2026, athletes will be able to participate as a team across both the 100km and Sprint distances, opening the event to competitors who may prefer to tackle one discipline rather than complete an entire triathlon individually.
The relay races join a broader programme that includes individual open races, age-group championships and 1km and 5km community runs.
That makes the weekend relevant beyond professional triathletes, with participation opportunities available for different experience and fitness levels.
Building on More Than 5,000 Amateur Athletes
The championship returns following a strong debut for its age-group competition in Qatar.
According to Visit Qatar, the inaugural T100 Age Group World Championships in Doha attracted more than 5,000 amateur athletes representing 82 countries.
Bringing the event back for a second year provides Qatar with another opportunity to build its presence within international endurance and multisport competition, while giving visiting athletes a destination experience alongside the race itself.
The Finale of a Nine-Destination World Tour
The Lusail weekend isn’t simply another stop on the calendar-it represents the conclusion of the entire 2026 T100 Triathlon World Tour.
The season-long championship spans nine international destinations between March and December, culminating in Qatar, where the professional world championship titles will be decided.
For spectators, that means an opportunity to see some of the world’s leading triathletes compete at the decisive final event of the season.

Turn the Championship into a Winter Weekend in Qatar
For travellers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere in the GCC, the December timing also makes the event an opportunity to combine sport with a short winter trip to Qatar.
December falls during one of the country’s more comfortable periods for outdoor activities, making it easier to combine race participation or spectating with time exploring Doha and Lusail.
The championship also sits within Qatar’s wider calendar of sporting, entertainment and cultural events, strengthening the country’s positioning as a regional destination where international sport can become part of a broader weekend getaway.
For GCC-based athletes in particular, the relatively easy regional access could make the T100 an appealing option for anyone looking to combine their next endurance challenge with a short overseas trip without travelling too far from home.
