Qatar Calendar 2026/2027 Launches with More Than 560 Events, Festivals and Championships
From international sporting championships and live entertainment to cultural festivals, family experiences and desert adventures, Qatar is preparing for a packed new season with the launch of Qatar Calendar 2026/2027.
Unveiled by Visit Qatar, the new national calendar brings together more than 560 events, festivals and championshipstaking place across the country, creating a central guide for residents and visitors planning what to see and do in Qatar over the coming seasons.
The initiative has a particular focus on travellers from the GCC, who continue to represent one of Qatar’s most significant visitor markets. According to Visit Qatar, around one million GCC visitors have travelled to Qatar so far in 2026, accounting for more than 40% of total visitor arrivals.
More Than 560 Things to Do Across Qatar
Qatar Calendar 2026/2027 covers a broad mix of experiences spanning sport, entertainment, culture, outdoor activities and family-friendly events.
Rather than positioning major events as standalone attractions, the unified calendar is designed to make Qatar’s year-round programme easier to discover and plan around.
The calendar was unveiled at a strategic launch event attended by senior state officials alongside representatives from Qatar’s public and private sectors.
Opening the event, H.E. Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, highlighted the calendar’s role in coordinating Qatar’s events offering and strengthening the country’s visibility as an international tourism destination.
Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, described the unified national calendar as a way of bringing government and private-sector efforts together under one umbrella while developing an integrated year-round tourism offering aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Sport Remains Central to Qatar’s Tourism Strategy
Sport continues to play a prominent role in Qatar’s events and tourism landscape.
A panel discussion during the launch explored how major sporting events can enhance Qatar’s image as a dynamic destination, featuring H.E. Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji alongside H.E. Hassan Al-Thawadi, Executive Member of the Supreme Committee for Projects and Legacy.
The discussion focused on Qatar’s sporting legacy and the potential for sports tourism to continue attracting international and regional visitors.
For travellers, that means the new calendar isn’t limited to traditional cultural and entertainment programming. Major championships and sporting experiences will sit alongside concerts, festivals and family events throughout the year.

‘A World of Events in Qatar’ Targets GCC Winter Travellers
Alongside the calendar, Visit Qatar unveiled its latest winter tourism campaign, “A World of Events in Qatar.”
The campaign specifically invites GCC audiences to experience Qatar during the cooler months through a mix of international sport, live entertainment, outdoor activities, desert adventures and family experiences.
The timing is significant given the strength of regional tourism. With GCC travellers representing more than 40% of Qatar’s visitors so far in 2026, the winter campaign aims to give regional audiences more reasons to return for short breaks and event-led trips.
A Unified Digital Ticketing Platform Is Coming
Finding an event is only part of the equation, and Visit Qatar is also working to make the booking process more convenient.
An upcoming unified digital ticketing platform is scheduled to launch in Q4 2026, creating a more centralised way for audiences to access events.
Visit Qatar has also unveiled a new Widget feature for the Visit Qatar app, designed to provide quick access to upcoming events.
These digital developments could make it easier for residents and international visitors to move from discovering an event to incorporating it into their travel plans.
New Partnerships to Strengthen Qatar’s Events Calendar
Visit Qatar also signed a series of partnership and cooperation agreements during the launch with Aspire Zone Foundation, Melt Live, Qatar Rail and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.
The agreements are intended to strengthen coordination across Qatar’s tourism and events ecosystem as the country develops its national calendar.
For travellers, the result is a more connected approach to showcasing what’s happening across Qatar throughout the year.
With 560+ events on the calendar, a new winter tourism campaign and a unified ticketing platform on the way, Qatar is continuing its push to turn major events into a central part of the visitor experience-not simply during peak periods, but throughout the year.
