ASIAMAXXXING Brings Mahjong, Asian-Inspired Food and Friendly Competition to Dubai for One Night

ASIAMAXXXING Brings Mahjong, Asian-Inspired Food and Friendly Competition to Dubai for One Night

Dubai’s dining scene is getting a playful twist this September as Soul Kitchen, nom:me, Ugly Noodles and 1004 Gourmet come together for ASIAMAXXXING, a one-night-only Mahjong Night combining Asian-inspired food, drinks and a little friendly competition.

Taking place at Soul Kitchen on 15 September 2026, the evening pairs rounds of mahjong with a specially created three-course collaborative menu, giving guests an alternative to the usual dinner-out experience.

And you don’t need to know your tiles before arriving. The evening has been designed to be beginner-friendly, making it just as suitable for first-time players as those already familiar with the game.

Mahjong Meets Dinner at Soul Kitchen

Rather than simply sitting down for dinner, ASIAMAXXXING turns the evening into a more social experience.

Three sessions will be available at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, with each time slot limited to a maximum of 20 guests. The experience is priced at AED 250 per person, including mahjong and the three-course menu, while drinks can be purchased separately.

The limited capacity should keep the sessions relatively intimate, allowing guests to learn, play and meet other people around the mahjong table while working their way through the collaborative menu.

What’s on the ASIAMAXXXING Menu?

The menu brings together flavours and ideas from the participating Dubai food concepts, beginning with a Szechuan-style Ceviche.

The starter combines Shimaji fish with Curious Elephant’s Szechuan chilli sauce, lime, black vinegar, soy sauce, cancha corn and coriander cress for a dish built around acidity, spice and texture.

For the main course, Short Rib Birria Belt Noodles brings two concepts together on one plate. Ugly Noodles’ signature belt noodles are paired with Soul Kitchen’s beef short rib birria, which is braised for 36 hours.

Dessert takes a cooler, tropical direction with Mango Bingsu made with shaved ice, Thai mango, coconut cream, mango foam and Tajin.

Drinks Between Mahjong Rounds

Guests can also order drinks separately throughout the evening.

The drinks selection will include Saicho small bottles, alongside Soul Kitchen cocktails and mocktails prepared using Yinli tea.

Whether that drink accompanies a winning round-or provides some consolation after a particularly questionable mahjong decision-is entirely up to the player.

A Different Kind of Dubai Dinner Plan

Food collaborations and pop-ups have become an interesting part of Dubai’s dining culture, but ASIAMAXXXING adds another element by putting an activity at the heart of the evening.

Instead of dinner followed by entertainment, the game becomes part of the social experience itself.

For anyone who has been curious about learning mahjong but hasn’t known where to begin, the beginner-friendly format also removes some of the intimidation that can come with joining an established game.

With only 60 places available across the three sessions, advance booking would be advisable.

Social With Shefali is where I open up about the things that inspire me, the practices that keep me grounded, and the experiences that make life feel a little more beautiful. I’m not here to be perfect, polished, or performative. I’m here to be real. To remind myself (and maybe you too) that balance, joy, and chosen connections are worth making space for.
