World Triathlon Multisport Championships Abu Dhabi 2026 Reveals Race Routes and Expands Global Line-up
Preparations for the World Triathlon Multisport Championships Abu Dhabi 2026 have reached a significant milestone, with organizer’s unveiling the official race routes and confirming strong international participation ahead of one of the world’s largest multi-sport events.
Taking place from 13 to 22 November 2026, the Championships will be held on Hudayriyat Island, marking the first time the prestigious event is hosted in the Middle East and North Africa. Organised by World Triathlon and hosted by Modon, the event is expected to welcome more than 4,000 athletes from around the world.
Already, 35 National Federations have confirmed participation, including teams from Great Britain, the United States, Australia and Brazil, while the UAE is preparing to field its largest-ever multisport team, with more than 160 athletesalready confirmed as qualification continues.
Six World Championship Disciplines
Athletes will compete across six multisport disciplines during the ten-day event:
- Duathlon (Run-Bike-Run)
- Cross Duathlon (Trail Run-Mountain Bike-Trail Run)
- Aquathlon (Run-Swim-Run)
- Long Distance Aquabike (Swim-Bike)
- Cross Triathlon (Swim-Mountain Bike-Trail Run)
- Long Distance Triathlon (Swim-Bike-Run)
A Championship Built Around One Destination
Designed as a fully integrated championship venue, every race will begin, transition and finish at 321 Sports on Hudayriyat Island, creating one connected Championship Village where athletes, supporters and spectators can experience the event together.
The newly revealed race routes highlight Hudayriyat Island’s diverse sporting landscape, taking competitors through turquoise waters, uninterrupted coastal roads, dedicated cycling and running tracks, mountain bike trails and scenic routes crossing the iconic Hudayriyat Bridge, offering sweeping views of Abu Dhabi’s coastline and skyline.
Championship Schedule
The event begins with the return of the World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) Abu Dhabi, which will now take place alongside the Multisport Championships following its postponement earlier this year.

- 14 November: WTCS Mixed Relay & Multisport Duathlon World Championships
- 15 November: 2×2 Duathlon Mixed Relay
- 17 November: Cross Triathlon World Championships

- 20 November: Aquathlon World Championships
- 21 November: Kids & Junior Community Triathlon
- 22 November: Long Distance Triathlon & Aquabike World Championships
Alongside elite competition, families can enjoy community races for children aged 4-15 years, entertainment, live music, and activities throughout the Championship Village. The soon-to-open Velodrome Abu Dhabi will serve as the central hub of the festival atmosphere, while live concerts at Surf Abu Dhabi will be announced in the coming months.

With official travel packages now available and qualification continuing worldwide, organisers expect athletes, teams and supporters from more than 45 countries to take part in ten days of elite competition, community racing and world-class sporting experiences on Hudayriyat Island.
