UAE’s Biggest Hindu Temple: BAPS opens in Abu Dhabi on 14th Feb’24
People of various faiths live in a multicultural culture in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi will welcome a Hindu temple as part of the nation’s dedication to religious peace, tolerance, and cultural diversity. Founded on the idea of harmony, the BAPS Hindu Mandir is the biggest Hindu temple in any Arab nation. The temple has 7 pillars that symbolizes the unity amongst 7 emirates and has moments from Hindu tales like Mahabharata, Ramayana, Shiv Puranan, Jagannath Path yatra carved on each of the 7 pillars.

The exterior has been built using the beautiful pink stone from Rajasthan and no steel has been used in the making. Built using an architectural technique that is 10,000 years old this temple uses the technique similar to lego blocks , the stones of this temple lock with each other to create a secure structure. The carvings in the columns are the result of almost 2,000 designers’ more than 400,000 hours of labor in Rajasthan.
The streams of the Holy Ganga river, Yamuna river and Saraswati will also be sectioned to flow inside and there is a beautiful big ghat to replicate the ghats of Varanasi. Although only traditional craftsmanship stone architecture has been used to build the temple, yet it incorporates modern technology like sensors that give live feed of changing temperature and pressure inside, changes and movement in the earth below and much more
The temple is being built on more than 5.4 hectares of land, and it will cost approximately Rs 700 crore to build. A sizable amphitheater, a gallery, a library, a food court, a majlis, and two community halls with capacity for 5,000 people are all part of the expansive complex. In addition, there will be kid-friendly play spaces and gardens.
The BAPS asserts that it manages 1,100 temples and 3,850 centers worldwide. The organization was also responsible for the construction of the largest Hindu temple outside of India, Akshardham, in Robbinsville, New Jersey.
The temple is truly made with love from people of all cultures and is set to be a spiritual oasis for anyone, whether a believer or not, who is seeking some peace in the chaos of this speeding life.
The mandir will be inaugurated on 14 Feb’24 by the Prime Minister of India and it has been suggested that community members register via a dedicated website or the Festival of Harmony app in order to enter the temple starting on March 1.
The visit will take place via pre-registration. Everyone is welcome to attend, but we ask that you arrive after 1st March to avoid rushing and causing overcrowding.
