LEGO SHOWS Natural Brickstory Comes to Abu Dhabi with a Record-Breaking Natural History Experience

LEGO enthusiasts, curious kids and science lovers have a new reason to visit Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, with the arrival of LEGO SHOWS Natural Brickstory, a world-first, limited-time interactive exhibition exploring an incredible 13.8 billion years of natural history.

The experience combines LEGO brick building with the museum’s scientific stories and specimens, taking visitors on a creative journey through the history of Earth, wildlife and the cosmos.

There’s also a particularly ambitious element to the exhibition: visitors will have the opportunity to contribute to an official Guinness World Records attempt, building a LEGO creation inspired by the UAE’s own natural history.

Explore 13.8 Billion Years of History Through LEGO

Natural Brickstory takes some of the biggest concepts in natural history and turns them into something visitors can physically build, experiment with and explore.

Designed for visitors of all ages, the exhibition features a series of collaborative LEGO builds spread across themed zones inspired by Earth’s history, wildlife and the universe.

Rather than simply observing exhibits, visitors become part of the experience, using LEGO bricks to explore scientific ideas through play and creativity.

The concept reflects a simple idea: sometimes the easiest way to understand something enormous—whether that’s the evolution of life or the scale of the cosmos-is to interact with it.

Take Part in a Guinness World Records Attempt

One of the biggest highlights of Natural Brickstory will be a special community LEGO build attempting to achieve an official Guinness World Records title.

And its inspiration is distinctly Abu Dhabi.

The collaborative creation will be based on Stegotetrabelodon emiratus, a four-tusked elephant that lived in Abu Dhabi during the Late Miocene period and whose scientific name honours the Emirates.

The activity gives visitors an opportunity to contribute to something much larger than their individual LEGO creation while simultaneously discovering a fascinating part of the UAE’s prehistoric story.

Trails, Workshops and Collaborative Builds

Beyond the record attempt, Natural Brickstory includes interactive trails, workshops and hands-on building activities.

Different zones encourage visitors to build and discover together, transforming scientific concepts into more approachable creative experiences.

For families, that makes the exhibition particularly interesting because the learning isn’t separated from the entertainment. Children can engage with science through something already familiar to many of them—building and playing with LEGO bricks.

Professor Peter C. Kjærgaard, Director of Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, described play as fundamental to learning and discovery, noting its ability to encourage the curiosity, imagination and creativity that also drive scientific exploration.

Make It a Full Day at Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi

Natural Brickstory is integrated into the wider museum experience rather than functioning solely as a standalone attraction.

Visitors can continue exploring Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi’s galleries and specimens, alongside its immersive experiences, dining and retail spaces.

That makes the exhibition an easy addition to a longer family day out at Saadiyat Cultural District, particularly for visitors looking for an activity that brings together science, creativity and hands-on entertainment.

One to Add to Your Abu Dhabi Family Calendar

Natural Brickstory offers something slightly different from the traditional museum experience.

There are serious scientific stories behind the activities, but visitors aren’t expected to experience them passively. Instead, LEGO becomes the tool for exploring everything from prehistoric wildlife to the evolution of our planet and the wider cosmos.

Add the chance to participate in a Guinness World Records attempt inspired by a prehistoric elephant discovered in Abu Dhabi, and this could be one of the more unusual family-friendly cultural experiences in Abu Dhabi to explore this season.

Social With Shefali is where I open up about the things that inspire me, the practices that keep me grounded, and the experiences that make life feel a little more beautiful. I’m not here to be perfect, polished, or performative. I’m here to be real. To remind myself (and maybe you too) that balance, joy, and chosen connections are worth making space for.
