Qatar Welcomes First Leisure Charter Flight from Armenia, Strengthening Inbound Tourism
Qatar has welcomed its first leisure charter flight from Yerevan, Armenia, marking a new milestone in the country’s efforts to expand inbound tourism and diversify its international visitor markets.
The inaugural flight arrived at Hamad International Airport (HIA), connecting Yerevan (EVN) with Doha (DOH). Operated by FlyOne in partnership with Rustar Tour Operator, the weekly charter service uses an Airbus A320 and is scheduled to operate until 15 May 2027.
Over the contracted period, the programme is expected to bring approximately 6,500 visitors from Armenia to Qatar, creating a new leisure travel connection between the two countries.
A Warm Welcome in Doha
To celebrate the inaugural arrival, Visit Qatar and Hamad International Airport teams organised a special reception for passengers.
Visitors were welcomed with traditional Arabic coffee and dates, while Qatari and Armenian flags marked the occasion. Guests also received Visit Qatar gift bags, offering them a first introduction to the country’s hospitality upon landing.
The arrival is particularly significant as it represents the first leisure charter flight to Qatar following the recent regional operational disruption, reflecting the return of normal operations and renewed confidence among travellers and international tourism partners.

Expanding Qatar’s Tourism Markets
The new Armenia charter programme supports Qatar’s broader strategy of developing tourism demand from a more diverse range of international markets.
With its established hospitality sector, international aviation connectivity and growing portfolio of cultural, entertainment, dining and leisure experiences, Qatar continues to strengthen its appeal as a regional tourism destination.
The Yerevan–Doha service could also help deepen tourism ties between Armenia and Qatar while creating opportunities for additional charter programmes and potentially scheduled air connectivity between the two markets in the future.
For Armenian travellers, the weekly connection provides a new way to experience Doha and Qatar’s combination of modern attractions, cultural landmarks, desert experiences and Arabian hospitality.
